Memorial Day 2013 weekend will definitely live on in my memory. Not just because I photographed the beautiful wedding of Rachel and Denny, rich with tradition, but I also was suffering from a serious case of the stomach flu! My body was screaming at me, “Stay home you crazy lady!” However the show must go on and I’m so very happy to have been a part of it. It was my first time witnessing the blessing of the meal whereby a braided bread called challah was sliced and I had a blast watching the chair dance, also known as Hora, where Hava Nagila boomed over the crowd. This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Washington Park Arboretum and it was such a treat. The grounds are lush and scenic making for stunning backdrops for portraits and the facility where they were married has such a beautiful outdoor patio that you can’t help but feel extra happy during cocktail hour! The buffet put on by the award winning Foodz Catering featured some serious salmon filets that looked not only gorgeous but I hear they were scrumptious. I held a mini exclusive 1 minute pity party for myself since I didn’t dare take a bite of anything given my condition. Plus everyone was treated to a performance by The Tallboys and the crowd square danced like mad. That was after Rachel and Denny were gifted a 2-person sleeping bag that they so generously stepped into to show off its fit. All in all the wedding was personal, pretty and fun. Special shout out to the groom Denny for playing fantastic music the entire time before the band showed up to get everyone square dancing!
